Example of using pySAM to compute standard case of PVWatts API

Hello!

I am just started learning to use SAM and pySAM. I would like to use pySAM to simulate the standard case that is returned by the PVWatts API (i.e. specify lat/lon and system capacity, then the model queries weather and solar irradiation data, and gives monthly and annual energy output and economic value with the standard system assumptions).

Is there a simple example to start with this? I am getting lost with all the applications available in the repo / SAM and looking for a straightforward example. Thank you!

Hi Felipe,

The examples in the PySAM documentation should help you get started:

nrel-pysam.readthedocs.io/en/master/Examples.html

Please note that the PVWatts web API ( developer.nrel.gov/docs/solar/pvwatts/v6/ ) uses a set of weather files that is different from the current NSRDB ( developer.nrel.gov/docs/solar/nsrdb/psm3-tmy-download/ ), so results from PySAM and the PVWatts API will not be identical.

Best regards,
Paul.
