NOCT/NMOT removal from IEC 61215. was created by Benjamin Liu
Dear SAM,
I learned that some module manufacturers are no longer providing NOCT on the module datasheet, because NOCT/NMOT is no longer required by IEC 61215. But according to SAM help, the CEC Performance Model uses NOCT as an input. Would you kindly confirm this method cannot be used when cell NOCT/NMOT is unavailable? Does the SAM team plan to provide a performance model with user entered specifications which does NOT require NOCT/NMOT?
Much appreciated,
Ben

Hi Ben,
SAM's "CEC Module Model with Module Database" module model requires T_noct for the "Nominal Operating Cell Temperature (NOCT)" method for calculating cell temperature. To avoid T_noct, you can choose the "Heat Transfer" method.
For the "CEC Performance Model with User Entered Specification" only the NOCT method is available, so you must provide a T_noct value.
Due to limited resources, we do not have immediate plans to address this issue. I have created a GitHub issue here: github.com/NatLabRockies/SAM/issues/2271
Best regards,
Paul.
