Update script for SAM versions older than SAM 2025.4.16 Revision 2

As of May 29, 2026, the SAM software registration process and some of SAM's web functionality will stop working for older versions of SAM. If you need to use a version of SAM older than SAM 2025.4.16 Revision 2, please download and run the "webapis-nrel-to-nlr.lk" script to update the webapis.conf file for that version of SAM.

To update the webapis.conf file for versions of SAM older than SAM 2025.4.16 Revision 2:

1. Download attached LK script:

   Alternatively, you can download the script directly from GitHub .
2. Start SAM. If you see the SAM Registration window with a message about skipping the registration, click OK.
3. In the Welcome window, click Open script and open the webapis-nrel-to-nlr.lk script you downloaded in Step 1.
4. Click Run at the top of the script editor.
5. When the script finishes, close the script editor and restart SAM.

I was previously using 2025.4.16 Revision 1, so after installing Revision 2, SAM now launches without any registration errors. However, now when I "Check for updates..." I get the following error message:

SAM Web Update
Could not obtain update information for SAM msw.
Internet connection method: system default

Hi Joel,

The best way to be sure you are using the latest version of SAM is to check the version number on the SAM Welcome page that you see when the software first opens. If your version is out-of-date, you should see a red banner explaining that a newer version is available. The automatic updater only works for Windows versions of SAM, and may not work for older versions.

You can also check the Download page on the SAM website for the latest version: sam.nlr.gov/download .
