Modelling HJT Cells was created by George Everett Hart
Hey Paul and Team,
I have been asked to model a heterojunction cell for a module similar to the attached. My usual process involves using the CEC module model with User Inputs, but there is not an option to select a heterojunction cell type that I am aware of.

Can you direct me to any documentation about the behavior of these cells and their integrations within SAM?
Thanks,
George

Hi George,

The cell type input for the CEC Performance Model with Module Database option on the Module page is not used in the module model calculations during the simulation. It is only used by the coefficient generator, which is a mathematical solver that calculates module model coefficients from the database parameters. (It is used to set the solver's initial guess value, so does not represent a physical property of the module.)

In short, you can choose any cell type and then compare the I-V curve that SAM generates with the one on the manufacturer datasheet to make sure they are similar.

Best regards,
Paul.
