SAM 2021.12.02 for Linux

In Linux, the .run file is a self-extracting archive. By default it installs in /home/SAM/ or /opt/SAM/.

Linux Installation Instructions

After the download finishes, open a terminal window and go to the Download folder:
cd
Open a terminal window and add execute permissions to the file:
chmod u+x ./sam-linux-2021-12-02-r2.run
Run the installer:
./sam-linux-2021-12-02-r2.run
When the installer finishes, to run SAM:
cd ./SAM

SAM 2021.12.02 requires MacOS 10.15 or later.

Mac Installation Instructions

Double-click the package (.pkg file) to run the installation program.

For some older versions of MacOS (OS X), a security feature called Gatekeeper may prevent you from starting SAM. For more on bypassing Gatekeeper, see this CNET article.

If SAM does not display correctly in macOS Dark Mode, close SAM, switch macOS to Light Mode, and then restart SAM.

SAM 2021.12.02 for Windows

SAM 2021.12.02 requires Windows 10/8 (64-bit). We have not yet tested it with Windows 11. It should work, but please let us know if you have any trouble.

Windows Installation Instructions

Double click the .exe installation file and follow the instructions in the installation wizard. By default SAM will install in the c:/SAM/2021.12.2 folder.

Installation troubleshooting:

If you see a VCRuntime140_1.dll missing message after starting SAM, run the VC_redist.x64.exe program that comes with your SAM installation. You can find it in the following folder: C:\SAM\2021.12.02\runtime\bin.
